Ah, we've reached the scary part.
But you want to know don't you?
How much is this going to cost?
I could be coy and say that it depends. And it really does...
However, let's talk in general terms.
My consultant rate runs around 60 dollars per hour. This can vary according to what needs to be done.
I can't really tell you how much building a website will cost. Can you see me coyly fluttering my eyelashes?
How much for a house?
That's like giving a quote for a house when someone says, "I'd like a house. How much?". I'd be crazy, a fool or a not-so-nice person to quote on that basis.
However, I generally meet up with someone, listen to what they need and either work out an up front price or a payment plan that goes step by step. This can also be hourly but that can get expensive quick. As a side note, I have to pay taxes just like you, so prices need to be more than for a full time position.
Small sites might be a few weeks of work or longer if they're bigger or more complicated. Changes are cheap at the beginning but expensive later when you've done lots of things. Think of ripping out a foundation after you've built a house on top.
Employers
If you hire me full time, I'm not greedy, but I'll probably want to be paid whatever the average going rate is for what I'm doing in that area. Remember, you get what you pay for.
Agencies
If you're an agency, the full time description pretty much applies too.
Payments
Worried about cash flow? I accept credit card payments via Paypal.
Still saying, "Oh my god! That's too expensive!"? Well, it might be.
