Here's a list of UX (User Experience) design books that I highly recommend.
About Face
by Alan Cooper
One of the classics of UX Design. The tone is a bit pedantic at times and a bit of a slog but ti's worth reading.
Sketching User Experiences
by Bill Buxton
Provides interesting case studies and approaches towards prototyping, wireframing and all around development.
Designing Interafces
by Jennifer Tidwell
A collection of common design pattern solutions
Designing the Obvious
by Robert Hoekman
He advocates a Situational Design approach as opposed to a Persona based approach, which I have a tendency to agree with.
Rocket Surgery made Easy
by Steve Krug
Short, simple, sweet book for usability testing on a budget.
Dont' Make Me Think
by Steve Krug
Krug's classic. This time on UX do's and don'ts.
A Project Guide to UX Design
by Russ Unger and Carolyn Chandler
A good general overview to UX.
The Design of Everyday Things
by Donald Norman
A classic in interface design. Covers not just digital design but real world "interfaces" as well.
Emotional Design: Why We Love (or Hate) Everyday Things
by Donald Norman
Another classic by Norman. This time addressing the emotional logic of users and how it applies to good or bad design.
Designing Interactions
by Bill Moggridge
A wonderful overview of the history of interaction design. Despite its many pages, a quick and easily digestible read with lots of case studies and interviews.
